    Description: Summer playing session 1

We plan to play Mahler: Symphony no. 2

The conductor will be Martin Budgett.

    Notes:    Are we over-reaching ourselves?
On Saturday 22 May 2027 at Ripon Cathedral, Martin Budgett will conduct this Symphony in its entirety as a fundraising event for Cancer Research
    • Westmorland Orchestra's Summer Session on 8 July will launch the preparations for that event - enquire further if you would like to be involved next year, playing or singing.
    • We will aim to play movements 1,2, 3 and 5 to figure 21 plus figure 39 end - avoiding the bits which require all the extra orchestra forces, choir, off-stage contributions etc.

Click this link to find the set on IMSLP. Click the "Parts (79)" tab, & click "57 more" under the Flute 1 part.  Select the part you will play from the list and click the down-arrow at left to download it.

Playing standard guide - grade 5 or above
There will be a break - bring your own refreshments
We will start playing promptly at 7:15 and finish at 9:30
Parking is limited - please allow time to find some!

If you aren't a member, but are interested in attending, click here.  Email invites will be sent for each session to all those on the list. Please check your Spam or Junk folders.  Reminder invites will follow to those who haven't responded.  It helps us provide enough parts and chairs if you book in advance -

But even if you just turn up on the night, we'll provide music and a warm welcome

Under 16s may play if a parent or guardian is present.  To discuss this, or if the cost is too much, please contact the treasurer - we want you to play!
