Soloist:
Chiao-Ying Chang
‘We Got
Rhythm’ could be the theme of the final concert of the season.
Gershwin’s ‘Jazz Concerto’ for piano with its memorable
‘smoky Harlem trumpet’ middle movement sets the tone for a programme
of rhythm and energy, not forgetting some memorable tunes - Dvorak and
Strauss dances, the military precision of Elgar – and the ‘race
to the finish’ of the Glinka Overture. Chiao-Ying
Chang’s sparkling performance of Saint-Saens’ 2nd. Concerto made
a big impression on our audience in March 2008. Born in Taiwan in 1981,
Chiao-Ying Chang began the piano at the age of five, and won a full
scholarship to London’s Royal Academy of Music in 1997. She has given
recitals and concerto performances at major festivals and venues throughout
the UK and Europe, with enthusiastic reviews. She appears with the support of
the Young Concert Artists Trust, through Making Music. |
